Geumoreum Soil Restoration Project, Jeju
A case of building a native vegetation recovery model in a tourist-damaged landscape through collaboration among private, public, and academic partners.
Geumoreum had experienced soil weakening and vegetation loss due to repeated trampling by visitors. This project focused on stabilizing the soil and creating conditions for native vegetation recovery through a collaborative model involving private, public, and academic sectors.

Improved NDVI by more than
Improved soil physicochemical properties by more than
Confirmed the scalability of a community-linked ecological restoration model
Expanded into a second-year restoration phase
The importance of this project lies not only in field restoration outcomes, but also in showing that a collaboration-based operating model can work in practice. It demonstrates that the foundation has been established not just for short-term restoration, but for long-term ecological recovery.
